How ready set dutch started
In January of 2017, my husband and I made the decision to move from the Netherlands to Dubai. While we were living in the Netherlands I was a primary school teacher and really loved it. My hope was to continue my career in education while we were living in Dubai. After meeting and talking to several parents over there, I made the decision to start teaching the Dutch language after school and this has grown into ready set dutch as it is right now.
When I first started out teaching, the lessons were at the children’s homes, but during 2020 when Covid hit, I had to change to online teaching. This worked out really great and after moving back to the Netherlands in 2021 I decided to continue with offering online lessons.
Teaching methods
During the lessons I try to not only teach the technical aspect of the Dutch language but I make sure to leave room for the personal note. I love to hear about what moves a child, and what is happening in their life. For me this is one of the best parts about working with children.
During the lessons we not only spend time on spelling and grammar, but we spend time reading and comprehending texts and I also try to incorporate time for creative writing. I really enjoy reading essays written by children, their imagination is endless and they still surprise me with their stories.
